In what is a potentially significant addition to the West Hill portfolio, over £5million has been invested in Bioomix, the bio-industrial pioneer that develops sustainable, organic and safe microbial products for global agriculture, replacing harmful and expensive agrochemicals to potentially provide farmers with £billions in economic benefits.

The Company’s breakthrough technology and unique intellectual property facilitates significantly higher yields of healthier crops, using less land and fewer chemicals to transform agricultural production, addressing major challenges in the sector, increasing profitability and making a positive environmental impact.

As the global population grows, more food is required than ever before and food security is a major issue, with current production methods placed under increasingly severe pressure to cater to more people with fewer resources. In order to increase crop yields agrochemicals such as pesticides and fertilisers are used. However, these products consist of toxic materials that cause a devastating environmental impact, contaminating soil, water, air and food, contributing towards greenhouse gas emissions and destroying biodiversity, whilst also causing deadly infections in humans.

Bioomix, has developed innovative and enormously scalable technology to make farming more sustainable. Underpinned by the Company’s microbeTRAP discovery technology, Bioomix identifies and attracts valuable microorganisms that are naturally found in the environment. These microbes are then cultivated at scale, using fermentation technology, to mass produce organic products specifically tailored to local conditions. The Company’s synthetic ecology approach utilises locally adapted microbes to produce award winning natural products that are cheaper, faster, more effective and with superior performance to competing solutions.

Several multi-billion € agro-industrial companies are already customers of Bioomix, including the €8billion turnover Danish Agro, a huge seed producer across Northern and Central Europe, as well as other major international seed companies such as DLF.

The capital raised in the offer supports the rollout of Bioomix’s products and international expansion across numerous territories.

CEO of Bioomix, Morten Andersen, commented:

‘With this infusion of capital, we can accelerate the development and manufacturing of innovative microbial solutions for farmers, promoting sustainable, productive, and profitable food production.

Our vision remains — to support farmers, make agriculture more sustainable, reduce its environmental impact, combat deforestation, and address the global food security challenges.

This investment propels us closer to achieving that mission. A mission more critical than ever.’
